Most opera and ballet performances begin at 7pm, with occasional matinees at 3pm or 4pm. Doors open 30 to 45 minutes before showtime.
On days with evening shows, visits are usually allowed until the end of the first interval, and ticket sales pause about 30 minutes before the performance, when counters serve only that evening’s guests.
Arrive at least 10 minutes early for tours, as late entry is not permitted, and note that for performances, latecomers are admitted only during the intermission.

Weekday vs Weekend

For a more relaxed experience, plan your visit on weekdays, especially Tuesday to Thursday, when guided tours and performances are less crowded. Weekends, public holidays, and festival periods (such as the summer Opera Festival or December’s Nutcracker shows) are much busier, with tours and tickets often selling out in advance.

Peak season runs from May to June and September to December, coinciding with major festivals and holiday performances. Expect larger crowds and higher demand for both tours and evening shows during these times.
For a quieter visit, consider coming between January and February or early spring (March to April), when there are fewer tourists, and it’s easier to book last-minute.
